I've been so distracted this week, trouble at work, that I seem to have missed about a week. So figured I'd do a few at a time now*g*

Day 1: A show that never should've been canceled.
Day 02 - A show that you wish more people were watching

Day 03 - Your favorite new show (aired this TV season)

Let's see, what show aired this season did I actually start watching this season...

Criminal Minds, Dexter and Supernatural were things I started watching last season so...

Modern Family, Chuck (it might have existed longer, but I didn't start watching it until this year)

But I'd have to say my favorite of them all is White Collar. It's not a highminded show. It's not something that makes you think, or that you need to rewatch to get the subtleties. It's braincandy, but damn it, for all that it is that, it's damn good braincandy. It's funny, it's entertaining, uplifting and seeing Neal and Peter together onscreen makes me smile.

Day 04 - Your favorite show ever

There's a few contenders for that one. Highlander. Yeah it's cheesy, yeah the acting can be bad at times. But I actually gained a greater appreciation for Adrian Paul while rewatching it.
The storyline and the characters still fascinate me even a decade after it stopped airing.

And Buffy of course. It's no coincidence of course that these coincide with my first entries into online fandom

Both are flawed, majorly at that and there's some serious issues in both that should have been dealt with, but for what they were, they were awesome.

Right now I'm hooked on Supernatural and I love Dean and Sam Winchester and their angel Castiel. But I can't call SPN a favorite until after it ends and I still want to watch eps years after the last episode has aired.

Day 05 - A show you hate

Glee, can't stand a single of the characters. Firefly, the characters pretty much bored me. Though honestly, hate is too high a word for it, I just didn't like it.

I think Dollhouse probably. Eliza Dushku to me is a very limited actress and she's kept me from even being able to watch beyond the second episode.

Day 06 - Favorite episode of your favorite TV show

Comes a Horseman/Revelations.

These two episodes took a character that I was mildly interested in and gave him depth and facets I hadn't dared imagine. I don't think there'll ever come a time that the sight of Methos lifting that mask and showing his face covered in blue facepaint won't make me catch my breath. Also one of the rare few times where an actors looks were actually improved by putting a wig on his head. Whoa momma.

Day 07 - Least favorite episode of your favorite TV show

Chosen. (I did mention that HL and Buffy share top spots*g*)

There are so many things wrong with this ep that it's hard to find a place to start. It's probably one of the single worst show finales I've ever had the misfortune to watch.

I don't ask much of a show, I can take a lot of plot holes, I can take things not going the way I'd like, but Chosen...

By the end of this episode, I hated every single one of the surviving characters with the exception of Buffy (and the Buffy comic took care of removing that.I'll never forgive Whedon for that final scene where the scoobies are joking over Spike, Anya and several innocent girl's graves.

Joking for crying out loud.

No, shock does not excuse it, ever. They showed no sign that they cared even in the slightest that several people just gave their lives for them. No care, no nothing. (well except for Buffy, which is why she's excempt from the hating everyone)

I don't care that they might mourn as soon as they leave the screen, I needed to see them mourn then and there, while we were watching them. And no, that was not a happy ending, because those jokes made it clear that they didn't give a damn and made it clear that Spike might have won them the battle, but the scoobies lost the war against the First in that they let it corrupt them into heartless monsters.

Don't even get me started on the Bangel kiss opening the ep, Buffy's plan which may win rewards in worst plan ever conceived by a show's hero that somehow despite anything manages to succeed more despite the heroes plans, rather than because of it. (what can I say, I hate incompetence)

Then there's the insular nature of the scoobies, that scene of them saying goodbye in the hallway that makes no sense. The way that Whedon was focussing more on his 'iconic moments' rather than on actually making his story feel true...

Honestly, I hate hate hate that episode.

The only parts of it that are any good are the spuffy bits and even then only just barely.

Day 08 - A show everyone should watch

Dexter or Being Human.

Well Supernatural too, but much as I love SPN and much as Dean and Sam fascinate me, Dexter and Being Human are actually better shows. (the only problem is that both are so well written that I haven't got much interest in reading Being Human fanfic at all. And my main interest in Dexter fanfics is the hope to find one that deals with how people would react if he were found out, because that's the one thing the show won't deal with until the final season. (or you know, unless they plan to kill the char finding out, right after)

Day 09 - Best scene ever

The final scene of Beneath you
It's odd, it's not a good episode as a whole. The Spike bits are awesome, but it's bogged down with an totally inconsequential Xander plot that drags it down immensely. Yet that final scene in the church is one I must have rewatched dozens of times. It brings tears to my eyes every single time.

Day 10 - A show you thought you wouldn't like but ended up loving

Supernatural

I kept hearing about all the misogynism and how woman hating it is and how much gender and race isues it's supposed to have bla bla bla ... And then I watch it and I find out that ... quite honestly, the show has dozens of strong female characters and some of the strongest characters of color I've seen on any show. Ever. And no, the fact that Victor Henrickson and Gordon Walker were bad guys did not lessen the impact of that. (check the list of major recurring characters and almost all of them are antagonists, the only ones that aren't are Bobby, Cas, Ellen, Jo and Pamela)Sure, there's no main female character. But you know what... the show has two main characters, that's it. It's NOT an ensemble show, it's not a show dealing with a group of people who keep running into one another or hang out together. It's a show about two guys who travel together and keep meeting new people. There's recurring characters, some who show up quite a lot. But it's not about them and it's not supposed to be.

In fact, the one thing I do find is that its fanbase is often more sexist than the show itself. Just look at the way people reacted to Ruby or Jo, often for no reason whatsoever. But then that tends to be an issue with many more shows than just spn. (in fact I find that female fans often seem to be a million times more critical of female chars than they'd ever be of male ones.)

Day 11 - A show that disappointed you
Day 12 - An episode you've watched more than 5 times
Day 13 - Favorite childhood show
Day 14 - Favorite male character
Day 15 - Favorite female character

Day 18 - Favorite title sequence

I totally agree re: SPN. I expected not to like it, but... Well. I think it's pretty clear that I've fallen head over heels for it.

Hm, interesting criticism on "Chosen", although I think it was pretty clear Anya's death hit Xander pretty hard, despite the jokes. I think showing our heroes relieved and a bit happy that the threat of the First has subsided and optimistic that they've become a larger, connected network of good is a better way to end the series than them mourning those who have fallen. It is a bit shaky, though, I'll give you that.
